Just Work Apps announces the launch of an innovative capital planning Cloud application

May 12, 2013 | Sydney Australia | Carla Kossally

New cloud-based application set to revolutionise how you keep track of property details.

After spending his entire career in property management, Paul Kossaly knew there had to be a better way to keep track of assets and properties for his clients.  His partner, Carla, a leader in technological strategies listened and detailed the specifications for a product she knew would finally support the efforts of property managers around Australia and the world over.

Partnering with SalesForce™ she has used their powerful Force.com Cloud platform and built Building Lifecycle Manager.  This product is especially designed for professionals managing commercial and or retails properties and their tenants, clients and stakeholders.  Whether you are the:

  • Ultimate decision makers, asset/investment managers responsible for capital and operating expendituresyour list item
  • Property managers, responsible for leasing and managing multiple buildingsyour list item
  • Day-to-day facility managers

Just Work Apps believe you can benefit from Building Lifecycle Manager.

“Oh yes, it tracks all the normal inventory details,” said Carla, “but it does far more.  It helps you know where to spend dollars based on set criteria, when to plan for capital spending; pinpoints hidden opportunities to satisfy and retain tenants while minimising costs and investments.  Plus it automatically maintains and suggests ways to help businesses manage their daily activities and know where, when and how to spend funds into the future.

Building Lifecycle Manager uses annual standard metrics to encourage standards throughout the industry.  There are easy to read dashboards that give a quick overview of annual progress against targets, quarterly, monthly, weekly, daily, hourly, etc., reports.  It also allows you to do “what ifs”.

Because it’s based on a true relational database, you can slice and dice information anyway you need to present or see it.  Report on anything you capture about all building elements or criteria.

Building Lifecycle Manager is based in a secure cloud environment so all the properties in the system are kept-up-to-date easily and quickly from wherever and whenever a property manager wishes to access them, including phone and tablets.  As they launch they are offering a 100% Free 30-day trial, full version of the application.

Does Google want to control your nest?

January 17, 2014 | Sydney Australia | Carla Kossally

Earlier this week, Google announced it is buying Nest Labs for $3.2 billion in cash. Nest is the maker of two controls products, a thermostat and a smoke alarm, for the residential property market.

So why Google would be interested in purchasing Nest for such a large sum is not too difficult to work out. Perhaps it is more about the “Internet of Things” than it is about Nest. Yet connecting people with things and making the experience seamless is the direction of Google and nest so this marriage should not be a surprise. Tony Fadell, Nest CEO said “The decision was not made on the whim – Google has been in the mix in some way or another for about three years of our almost four-year history.

Although only a “David” in a market of controls giants, Nest seems to have awaken at least one of the giants, Honeywell, who is now in court with Nest over patent infringements. Techzone360 sums it up well.

Honeywell and the other controls companies have every right to be concerned with Nest considering Nest’s achievement in the marketplace, with over 25,000 certified professionals, in the short time since their appearance. And now with the Google boost the sky scrapers is the limit – who knows if the commercial market is the next target!

Nest products
Even traditional engineers would have to admit, the Nest products are very slick, well thought out and seems so easy to use. Nest make controls look like child’s play. Google’s Larry Page said “They’re (referring to Nest) already delivering amazing products you can buy right now–thermostats that save energy and smoke/CO alarms that can help keep your family safe”.
Google and Nest just blew open the pandora’s box of controls and reinventing the future just got interesting. Watch this space!

How engineers are using social media

May 31, 2013 | Sydney Australia | Carla Kossally

There is a common belief that engineers are slow adopters of technology specifically social technology like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc..  However, a survey conducted by CALGAVIN in 2012 found the use of social media among engineering professionals is on the increase.  The infographic speaks for itself.
